| That's me in the corner. I would be smiling less if someone was trying to eat me, though. |
How odd, you may think, but stranger things have been consumer by mankind. A quick peruse of the Guinness World Records' section on eating is sure to put you off your lunch. Either that, or you'll develop a craving for the world's longest pizza. While it is undoubtedly great to be part of the team behind the world's largest meatball or one of the participants in the 'most people eating potato chips simultaneously' contest, the man who gets my awe today is Michel Lotito. Why? Because he ate a plane of course.
Yes, that's right, Michel Lotito ate an airplane. The Frenchman was born in 1950 and became an entertainer, earning himself the name Monsieur Mangetout, or Mr Eat-All-Things to you and me. After working his way through many a serving of bicycle, shopping trolley (imagine that next time you're at the supermarket) and television, Lotito moved on to his biggest challenge: the consumption of an entire airplane. The Cessna 150 aircraft was devoured bit by bit by Lotito over the course of 2 years, reportedly requiring him to chomp through about 1kg of metal and glass every day.
Monsieur Mangetout's remarkable attitude to everyday objects makes me wonder, albeit morosely for me as I am one myself, how long would it take to a motorhome?
An average motorhome, stripped of possessions and people, will weight around 3000kg (3 tonnes). Assuming the average eater can train to become a efficient as Lotito, they can consume 1 kg of motorhome everyday. 3000 days = 428.57 weeks or 98.5 months or 8.21 years!
So, if you fancy a challenge and have a spare 8 or 9 years, why not become the first person in the world to eat a motorhome. An easier option is motorhome hire. Don't forget to pack some snacks for the journey! Thanks for reading; follow a Happy Motorhome on Twitter and make me even happier.
